Symptoms

When you open Help and Support center in Windows Vista, one of the following problems may occur:

• Red X mark appears where the images are to be displayed
• CSS styles are not applied to the pages in Help and Support
• Error Internet Explorer cannot download / from Help occurs:

Resolution

This happens if the Content Type registry setting for certain file types is missing or incorrect. To fix the problem download helpcontentfix_vista.reg from the Attachments section of this article and save it to Desktop. Right-click on the downloaded file and choose Merge. The REG file fixes the Content Type values for XML/XSL/PNG/JPG/CSS file types, and thereby resolves the problem.
