Symptom
When you try to send a Web page or link by email using the File | Send menu in Internet Explorer in Windows Vista, the options Page by E-Mail... and Link by E-Mail... may be unavailable (dimmed or grayed out).

Resolution
This happens if a default mail client is not correctly set. Using the Default Programs - Set your default programs, and selecting your mail client (for example, Windows Mail) also may not help.
Follow these steps to resolve the problem.
- Click Start, select Default Programs
- Click Set program access and computer defaults
- Click Custom, and select your mail client (for example, Windows Mail)
- Click OK
Note: If User Account Control is enabled, you'll be prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation after following the step 2 above. When the prompt appears, type your password, or click Continue.

Solving this problem had been an active discussion with most of my friends saving a page, then linking that page to an email. This was a huge help and I will share this with them. Thanks so much!

This did not resolve my issue because I have Yahoo Mail set as my default email client, and it seems IE7 on Vista only enables those two options when Windows Mail as the default. In Firefox, I have no issues with this. IE7 has some serious issues!!!!

Same person who made comment #5. I was finally able to resolve my issue. I have Yahoo Mail set as my default mail client and both the Page by E-mail and Link by E-Mail options are now enabled in IE7 running on Vista. Btw, your instructions are very helpful in general.
Thanks.

THANKS! This problem occurred after installing Google toolbar. At first I thought this didn't work for me, but after trying/playing around with it, discovered the dropdown on 'custom'. For step 3, you can only select the mail client AFTER accessing the dropdown. It worked like a charm!
